I have a GigaByte motherboard with a Promise Technology, Inc. PDC20276 RAID bus controller that doesn't work properly without enabling CONFIG_PDC202XX_FORCE=y. The kernel is unable to see my extra drives attached to this controller.

In the kernel's GUI configuration tool it's called "Enable controller even if disabled by BIOS" under "Device Drivers"/"ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL support"/"PCI IDE chipset support"/"Generic PCI bus-master DMA support"/"PROMISE PDC202{68|69|70|71|75|76|77} support"

I wouldn't have to build my own kernel if this option was on by default. Thanks.
