Downgrading to packages from the 19th June solves the problem - ie to:
xf86-input-evdev-2.3.2-1 xf86-input-keyboard-1.4.0-1 xf86-input-mouse-1.5.0-1 xf86-input-synaptics-1.2.1-1 xorg-server-1.7.6-3 xf86-video-vesa-2.3.0-1 xf86-video-intel-2.10.0-1

I think the Important package is xf86-video-intel-2.10.0-1 while the others are for dependencies.

On the other hand the packages I tried from testing a few days back didn't work.

This problem is partially solved by installing xf86-video-intel-newest package from AUR.
However, the problem often manifests itself in the form of frequent hang GPU.

I am also experiencing this problem.

I have tried using xf86-video-intel-2.10 xf86-video-intel-2.12 xf86-video-intel-newest xf86-video-intel-git but the problem remains.

It manifests itself by freezing the screen and this error shows in /var/log/errors.log repeating constantly.

What's the status of this? Drivers referenced in the bugreport are so ancient that I can't believe this bug still exists.

Sorry, meant to say a couple of weeks ago that there was no problem when I upgraded to xf86-video-intel-2.13 so the problem seems to be solved.
