Description:
Arch's KDE build uses HAL for its needs (like USB automounting). Arch Linux should follow Kubuntu in transition to udev.

Additional info:
For example, KDE uses HAL for automatic mounting USB devices. Even if I create udev rules described in Arch Wiki KDE fails to recognize udev's automounts.

Afaik KDE will depend on HAL till the release of 4.6. This is not our decision but upstream. And afaik there are still no working solid backends for udev, udisk and friends. If you have more information please point to it.

Correct me if I am mistaken but AFAIK Kubuntu dropped HAL in 10.04 Lucid Lynx according to Ubuntu Project decision. Still USB auto mounting works fine there.

You are wrong here. There is no support in KDE for e.g. a devicekit backend in solid.
