Description:
Error message from gedit (launched from nautilus which was launched from a terminal to see messages): ** (gedit:4212): CRITICAL **: gedit_spell_checker_language_to_key: assertion `lang != NULL' failed Additional info: * package version(s) gedit for gnome 2.30.0 Steps to reproduce: Launch nautilus from terminal as root (to view messages in terminal). Find a text file. Double click it to open it in gedit, make a change, sace, and exit. The message appeared. |

Additional comments about closing: The error isn't critical, and is probably a side-effect of gedit being unable to set a language.

I can't reproduce your warning here. This is coming from the
spellchecker plugin inside gedit. Though the error message says
CRITICAL, there's nothing CRITICAL about this error. The
spellcheck plugin can't detect the language to check for and bails
out.
