mkinitcpio 0.6.5, rebuild kernel initrd image, you can see this problem. version 0.6.4 did not have this problem.

when booting there is a warning: cannot open /dev/null, this shown very early time, right about udev hook load. before the screen resolution changed.

if i use plymouth, i will see more errors and warnings.

such as: mount: can not mount none on /dev/pts, file or directory doesnot exist.

The mkinitcpio hook that comes with plymouth suffers from the same problem and needs to be changed in the same way.
