It is not an optional dependency, without it loading the plugin fails.

@Thomas Haider: While the notification plugin needs it, loading this particular plugin out of the 19 included in the package is optional. Check out the list of optional deps in the PKGBUILD to see what I mean, each individual plugin has its own dependencies.
