I expected pacman to list explicitly/or as dependancy installed packages inside a particular group. This clearly wasn't what happened:

----- 8< ------
[phaul@phoenix ~]$ pacman -Q -g base -e | grep wget
base wget
[phaul@phoenix ~]$ pacman -Q -g base -d | grep wget
base wget
----- >8 ------

(on my box wget is in group `base', it's explicitly installed, and required by aurvote and yaourt).

Paul.

Right now the group queries don't go through the filter framework so this will not work. We might be able to change that but the biggest reason is probably because the output format is different (and includes the group name).

You can do it like this:
comm -12 <(pacman -Qgq base) <(pacman -Qeq)
comm -12 <(pacman -Qgq base) <(pacman -Qdq)
