Description:
wicd is missing consolekit dependency. Without it the client doesn't start.

Install wicd on system without consolekit.

I believe the consolekit dependency is bogus. It works here without consolekit. INSTALL, README, setup.py, neither of those mention or check for the presence of consolekit. Most likely the users experiencing issues have some different issue and installing consolekit fixes it as sideeffect. This might be a dbus issue, or wicd might not have been started for some reason.

Both the gtk and the ncurses clients work without consolekit.

I also got a response in the #wicd IRC channel:
