DetailsDescription:
I want to configure my wireless connection in "adhoc-mode". Here is my profile, according the wiki instructions http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Netcfg#Execute_commands_before.2Fafter_interface_up.2Fdown : CONNECTION='wireless' DESCRIPTION='A simple WEP encrypted wireless connection' INTERFACE='eth1' SECURITY='wep' ESSID='tomato' KEY='86AAD51EB12345A43077F52C6B6' PRE_UP="ifconfig eth0 down; iwconfig eth0 mode ad-hoc" IP='dhcp' The connection fails with this debugging output : # NETCFG_DEBUG="yes" netcfg -u wireless-tomato DEBUG: Loading profile wireless-tomato DEBUG: Configuring interface eth1 :: wireless-tomato up [BUSY] DEBUG: status reported to profile_up as: DEBUG: Loading profile wireless-tomato DEBUG: Configuring interface eth1 DEBUG: wireless_up stop_wpa eth1 DEBUG: wireless_up ifup DEBUG: wireless_up Configuration generated at /tmp/wpa.eth1/wpa.conf DEBUG: wireless_up start_wpa eth1 /tmp/wpa.eth1/wpa.conf wext DEBUG: wireless_up wpa_check > WPA Authentication/Association Failed DEBUG: profile_up connect failed Here is the file /tmp/wpa.eth1/wpa.conf produced by netcfg : ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant ctrl_interface_group=wheel network={ ssid="tomato" key_mgmt=NONE wep_key0=86AAD51EB12345A43077F52C6B6 wep_tx_keyidx=0 } I notice that wpa_supplicant switch back my wifi device in managed mode after executing the PRE_UP commands. To work in adhoc-mode, the configuration file must look like that : ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant ctrl_interface_group=wheel ap_scan=2 network={ mode=1 ssid="tomato" key_mgmt=NONE wep_key0=86AAD51EB12345A43077F52C6B6 wep_tx_keyidx=0 } a small patch is attached to this bug report. |
