it doesn't happen with every video and attached sample video plays fine with
mplayer -vo gl test.avi. seems to be a regression.

some of my videos do the same thing, Intel GMA X4500MHD, but not with -vo gl, but -vo xv

that's exactly what i ment. sorry, for being unclear:
mplayer -vo xv test.avi -> distored output
mplayer -vo gl test.avi -> video plays fine

According to a comment in the bug report at freedesktop.org, it seems to be fixed in xf86-video-intel 2.11.901.
when will the new version hit extra?
