The current archiso package in extra is completely and utterly outdated. Now that the new arch installation image is out it would be a good idea to update this package from a new git snapshot/tag.

"Do NOT report bugs when a package is just outdated, or it is in Unsupported. Use the 'flag out of date' link on the package page, or the Mailing List.

REPEAT: Do NOT report bugs for outdated packages!"

Well this isn't a completely trivial update. Since this basically an internal package tool without point-releases I thought perhaps this bug report could be used for discussion when/if an update or removal of the current package in extra seems appropriate. This was already discussed partly in another bug report that was concerned with the release of an isohybrid-able archiso.

Should I still just flag the package out-of-date like usual?

Aaron, do we actually want to update this or we should drop it from repos and recommend to use it directly from git?

I think we should update the package. It's ok to recommend using latest git, but an updated package is a good idea anyway.

I noticed that archiso is no longer in the binary repos.
Should we close this bug?
