Apparently so. I enabled all the available codepages in the kernel config.

*shrug*

well Judd. Then there must be another way to get valid unicode for samba shares from a win2k ntfs (so unicode filenames) that I don't know. I tried even with cifs and doesn't work. So I give up. Close the gad damn thing as "not a bug" and let's all go home happy..
Yes I'm in a unpoetic mood

Have you tried codepage 737 or ISO8859-7?

Kevin, you can close this. No matter what I've tried I 'm not able to get CIFS to see greek filenames. cp737 with iocharset=iso8859-7 (the greek iso) seems to work, but even for fat32 (on windows xp) I use utf8 to mount them and i have (natively) greek filenames.
so close this bug [afterall judd enabled all the codepages available :P]
thank you both (and of course I cannot thank SAMBA DOCS :))
