DetailsDescription:
My laptop is tp_X200. I compile tp_smapi myself. but when i update kernel26 to latest, i find it fail to work (modprobe hdapsd fail), even i recompile it. following the information which modprobe gives to me, i find modprobe does not insmod the "hdaps.ko" compiled by myself. kernel26 has a file named "hdaps.ko", which is fail to insmod in my laptop. after i delete kernel26's "hdaps.ko", HDAPSD works. ----------------- so i don't think kernel26 should have "hdaps.ko". or kernel26's "hdaps.ko" is not for thinkpad. or kernel26's "hadps.ko" is for thinkpad but not patched for thinkpad X200. patch information can be find here: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Ubuntu_8.04_%28Hardy_Heron%29_and_Ubuntu_8.10_%28Intrepid_Ibex%29_on_a_ThinkPad_X200#Harddisk_Protection_HDAPS.28and_HDAPS_joystick.29_and_battery_charge_control_through_tp-smapi Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: |

Just install your self compiled module to kerneldir/updates and it will be preferred loaded, else please fill a bugreport on kernel.org.

I read kernel source, drivers/hwmon/hdaps.c is for thinkpad, but is not patched for new thinkpads.

Don't use in-kernel support of HDAPS (CONFIG_SENSORS_HDAPS), because this module is obsolete and does not work with X200. Use the http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=3985 package instead, which provides another hdaps module implementing HDAPS support. It works very well with X200.

HDAPS in kernel 2.6.35 does not work with X200

Is this still a problem? AFAIK tp_smapi probably wont ever be in the kernel, so otherwise, wont implement?
