Description:

I suspend as usual using the Gnome dialog, and it seems to work right: there is high disk activity for a while, then the system stops. However, on waking the computer, it boots as if there had be no hibernation, except that fsck is launched. I haven't spotted other relevant error messages, but maybe I haven't looked at the right place

Steps to reproduce:

Hibernate (from gnome)
Try to wake the computer -> doesn't work.

Happens every time.

do you have resume hook in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and in menu.lst kernel line a resume=/dev/sdaX where X is the swap partition?
Comment by Joël Schaerer (lardon) - Tuesday, 04 May 2010, 19:45 GMT
Ok, I added the resume hook to /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and reinstalled the kernel. (I wonder how it worked before without the hook? Or did the hook go away in one of the updates?)

It does resume from hibernation now, but it still doesn't work: the X is all garbled, and I can't log from the text consoles. I left a running root session in a text console, and noticed that ordinary programs segfault after the resume:

Of course the only option then is to reboot.

Still doesn't work. This time, the screen was black, but I could still reboot using REISUB.
