To make better visibility of AUR packages, Community Features should be added. There is AUR Vote, but its less effective as most people are not able to vote as most AUR helpers don't implement voting.

I propose following new features:

1) Sorting based on Download Stats: Weekly,Monthly and All time.
2) Reviews & Rating: Users can write review about particular package and give ratings
3) Popular packages: Decide based on download stats and reviews & ratings. Packages with most downloads and best reviews as be shown as 'popular' packages.
4) Recommended: Fav packages of TUs

How necessary is any of this if the AUR helpers implemented voting?

#2 Can be accomplished via comments.
#3 Already exists via votes.

Q) How necessary is any of this if the AUR helpers implemented voting?
Its not necessary but surely will make life easier of users to navigate the site and finding packages. Plus, I would doubt all AUR helpers will ever implement votes. so these stats make packages on AUR more exposed.

#2 & #3
Not same thing, its different.

Alternatively, we can scrap current votes system and implement 'Total installs' function.

The idea is,
when a package is installed via AUR(via web or AUR helpers), 'Total installs' count is i++ and when user removes it, its reduces --> i--

What do you think?

I agree with Loui. Keep in mind that the AUR was/is designed to be kind of another package repository (roughly speaking), not a package statistics page. AUR votes should be sufficient to upvote packages for [community] inclusion. If you'd like any more detailed stats, feel free to setup whatever you like. This doesn't belong into the AUR though.
