DetailsI do not know about acpid's upstream[1] status, the latest release was one year ago, but as far as I can see nothing big happened there since a while and it still uses a deprecated api[2].
There is now acpid2[3] which addresses the issue above and others. Fedora (devel - fc14)[4] and Debian (currently in testing)[5] already adopted it, so maybe Arch should switch too anytime soon.
