Just let me add, that there must be a semicolon after development. You can also use the desktop-file-validate binary to test .desktop files. The binary comes with the desktop-file-utils package.

And since it is new year and I have problems to get mysel together, just another remark:
I wrote this file, but this freedesktop stuff is rather new to me. So today I' write it this way for better compliance :)

the MimeType section reqires that update-desktop-database is called after installing, to make the mime-cache aware of the changes. Have a look at the blender package or at this mail, where I described the stuff.

if you can commit the changes, feel free ... i'm the next week not very frequently online

it's commited but neither updated nor tagged. But I think we can shoot and make an -2 release. The changes are like this:
- added install file
- changed MultipleArgs to X-MultipleArgs (standard compliance)
- added GTK;Development;WebDevelopment to Categories
NOTE:
- TextEditor is left out, cuz Development is a supercategory, not a subcategory of TextEditor
- WebDevelopment is a valid subcategory of either Development or Network, so it is handled by the menu-building Application if it shows up under Network or Development
