I have some doubts here. The differences between -2 and -3 is just a security fix for KDM. A downgradei s really not recommend. See http://repos.archlinux.org/wsvn/packages?op=comp&compare[]=%2Fkdebase-workspace%2Ftrunk@74509&compare[]=%2Fkdebase-workspace%2Ftrunk@77469

  • Field changed: Summary ([kdebase-workspace] 4.4.2-3 regression → [kdebase-workspace] 4.4.2-3 Kontact is slow)
I cannot confirm if kontact is more slow using -3.
As Pierre said, -3 fixes a vulnerability in KDM so update is recommended.

Please, try with a new user.

kontact is unusable with my user (about 5GB email, 200 contacts in my addressbook, 100 notes) it seems that rescan all my mails (very very high disk activity), if I click on send email or click on a message to see it I have to wait about 1 minute, now I need my mail to work so I'll stay with -2

If you are unable to reproduce the problem I'll do some other tests this weekend,

Nicola
