OOPS! I meant DEMONS... fails there, I misidentified the part in rc.sysinit :(

Can someone update?

Okay, apparently I fail... I tried both "localhost" and "127.0.0.1" and redirected stdout to /var/log/mpd/mpd.log

my /var/log/mpd/mpd.log now:

listen on localhost (line 64): Failed to look up host "localhost": Temporary failure in name resolution
/etc/rc.d/mpd: line 8: 1962 Aborted /usr/bin/mpd /etc/mpd.conf
listen: Failed to listen on 127.0.0.1 (line 64): Failed to look up host "127.0.0.1": Address family for hostname not supported
/etc/rc.d/mpd: line 8: 1972 Aborted /usr/bin/mpd /etc/mpd.conf

I'm going to try to launch mpd before dhcpcd is looking for offers, maybe that helps...

okay, got it running... next error message I got was

avahi: Failed to create client: Daemon not running
...not using avahi here, so I deactivated zeroconf in mpd.conf.
sorry for the inconvenient report... Forget it.
