In pm-utils 1.3.0-1, running /usr/bin/on_ac_power (provided by this package) is broken. It says:

Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.DeviceKit.Power was not provided by any .service files

This utility worked in earlier versions of pm-utils.

I guess it worked in previous versions because these depend on HAL whereas in 1.3.0, they removed the HAL dependency. Do you have devicekit-power / upower installed?

hal is still installed and running. I didn't have upower installed, but installing it and restarting dbus doesn't remove this error message. I can't find any device-kit packages still in the repos. ("pacman -Ss device | fgrep kit" draws a blank.)

I've found a patch in git that adds upower support[1].
