Description:
Vanilla Ruby 1.9.1 can not be compliled against OpenSSL version 1.0.0. Even 1.9.2 seems to have this problem: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/207365. With OpenSSL versions less then 1.0.0 Ruby compiled fine.

Steps to reproduce:
Just try to compile vanilla Ruby 1.9.1 sources

I think, OpenSSL 0.9.8n was stable enough not to switch to 1.0.0 immediately.

What is your problem exactly? Doesn't ruby 1.9.1_p378-2 from [extra] work for you?

I have to use different versions of ruby (developing/maintaining some rails sites)
so I cannot install the package Archlinux provides.
I compiled Ruby 1.9.1 a few days ago after switching over from Ubuntu and all
went fine. After the update to SSL 1.0 the interpreter can not find the correct
library anymore. It is searching for the 0.9.8 library. Maybe i create a symlink?

You just need the openssl-1.0 patch from ABS.
