Reason for closing:  Won't fix
Additional comments about closing:  There's too much conflicts now and most of the comments aren't needed any longer. These comments are history.

While this was announced both on the forums and the mailing list, I also would like to see them restored.

not "old". nothing changed yet.

Afaik, Loui still has a dump of the old comments, so this shouldn't be too hard. The only issue here is to find the matching package to each comment (this is particularly difficult for packages that might have been removed). I'll work on this once my development box is up again. Be patient, please.

i say, screw the comments :) now is too late for them. that incident happened more than a year ago. nothing has relevance today

Depends. If there wouldn't have been any package deletions since the comment "cleanup", merging them would probably take no more than 5-10 minutes. I'll check if there are a lot of conflicts (broken package references) and will decide how to proceed based on the results.
