Details

Description:
the init script provided for mldonkey presents some problems (like changing /var/lock directory ownership), prints errors at boot time (/tmp/mldonkey.log not found) and more in general tries to solve problems which shouldn't be managed by the init script and in fact are not by others (like sshd)

Additional info:
* package version(s): 3.0.1

I've attached a simpler init script. Also, I noticed the package is orphan, can I take care of it?

Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  I updated to 3.0.2, and the package now includes the new script.

@Giulio
Thanks for the script!

  • Field changed: Summary (mldonkey init script replacement → [mldonkey] init script replacement)
  • Task assigned to Dan Griffiths (Ghost1227)
Yes, the package is orphan, but you cannot maintain it since you are not a DEV or TU.

@Dan
Sorry if you are no more in Community Orphan Team, maybe you know who should take care of this bug.

@Andrea
I intend to continue my work with the Community Orphan Team, despite my recently added responsibilities :P Someone's gotta do it. I'll take a look at the stock initscript, and the attached one and make a determination shortly.

Somethings changed, it doesn't rebuild properly. I'm researching a patch.
Comment by Chris Brannon (cmb) - Sunday, 09 May 2010, 15:56 GMT
The 3.0.1 release refuses to compile with ocaml 3.11.2,
which is the version available in our repos.
It wants 3.11.1 or lower.
However, mldonkey 3.0.2 was released on April 25, and it builds successfully
with ocaml 3.11.2.

@Dan
I don't use this package, but I'll be glad to adopt it.
Does the reporter's proposed initscript look acceptable to you?
Comment by Dan Griffiths (Ghost1227) - Sunday, 09 May 2010, 16:19 GMT
@Chris
Good to hear they finally updated it for the latest ocaml. You're welcome to take over the package. The proposed initscript is a major improvement over the currently included one, you are welcome to add it to the official package.
