It would be really nice to have lirc support built into mplayer. The only change to the current pkgbuild would be to add "--enable-lirc --enable-lircc" to the current ./configure line.

I've got a preliminary lirc package now, it includes the ati-usb driver (I figure it would be the most common, I will see if I can include multiple drivers)

Here's the lirc package just in case it is required:

Could you also provide the lirc PKGBUILD you used? I have tried to compile lirc on 2.6 about a year ago and then it was extremely broken. We don't have a lirc package in arch now anyways (only lirc-pctv), so it would be nice if we could use your PKGBUILD instead.

Here's all the necessary info:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=8681

There is a file for it in the incoming directory, lirc-0.7.0-3-arch.tar.gz

It includes all the files, as well as the binary.

I was ready to commit lirc support into mplayer but I realized it will be a required dep versus an optional dep which I don't want to force onto everyone. I've added a decent lirc pkg with most modules and all confs in /usr/share/lirc/remotes/. You'll have to build mplayer from abs for lirc support.
