Current version (0.9.2-2) of xmobar in community doesn't run with spawnPipe "xmobar" in my xmonad.hs, but I can still run xmobar manually. The Problem goes away if I upgrade to aur/xmobar-darcs.

Hi,
it could be related to this bug (already fixed in trunk): http://code.google.com/p/xmobar/issues/detail?id=17. It happens because of utf8 changes in ghc 6.12.1 while 0.9.2 still relies on the old ghc behavior (but 0.9.1 didn't have this problem, not sure why). Accordingly, problem only appears when xmobar wants to print non-english (i.e. non ASCII) text (mine crashes for local slovak websites). Please try to apply the patch, because xmobar package is unusable for non-english users as it is.

Cheers,
Marek

This could be it... I'm using greek letters as workspace symbols so mine crashes right after startup.
