DetailsWhen installing with disks, pacman doesn't find the libz.so.1 library that he needs to run...
I don't know if the disks install is still supported but I found it a good way to install a fresh pacman without downloading a big iso and upgrading one half of the files. |

pacman links to zlib, which is not available on systems which haven't been installed yet. Seems the floppydisks don't provide it. You could try the pacman.static binary which should also be there, this one is static compiled and is also used in the setup AFAIK.

The older disk images have this problem, but the latest ones on ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/images should work fine for FTP installs.
