Description:
I had a X700M and distabled KMS because it fails on .32 Kernel. After upgrade to newest xf86-video-ati pkg, X segfault on start.

6.12.192-1

with 6.12.191-1 no problems

you need to update full to testing packages if you want to use the new ati driver pkg. have you done that?

KMS is now the upstream way to go. We ship it that way. Can we close this now?

Yes KMS is on upstream, but problem still alive. So its better not to close. I like a fallback to old config without KMS, if KMS fails.

You may want to try to boot with "pci=nomsi" option.

You need to file the bug upstream or it won't get solved.
