Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  Looks like libpng on OS X is awesome and doesn't like 2-color PNGs. Will be fixed shortly.

The problem appears to be related to a difference in background images.
The aur, wiki, forums, and bugtracker do not show the above issue. Just the main site (and downloads, which uses the main site codebase).

Note the discrepancy in these two images.
http://www.archlinux.org/media/titlebar.png 175B
http://aur.archlinux.org/images/titlebar.png 201B

The two files are different sizes (noted above).
Looking at the individual images in chrome, I see this (screenshot attached).

Maybe someone ran a pngcrush or optipng on the file, and it removed enough data to bugger it?

http://repos.archlinux.org/wsvn/ exhibits the same problem as it also uses the main site's titlebar.png file.

This was reported before: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18455 Looks like a bug in Mac/Safari which we cannot fix. Maybe its a graphics driver bug or your libpng is broken. (e.g. Chrome on Linux is fine)

So instead of actually fixing it with a known good image, just chalk it up to a graphics bug and keep it looking broken?
awesome.

@Pierre: I think the actual fix was suggested - use the image used for the AUR or wiki on the main site.

I don't see a problem with that

I don't care and I am not the one who decides what happens. I just wanted to link to the other report and add information what might cause this.

Btw: The wiki theme is implemented differently and doesn't use the background image hack anyway.

PS: So, Mac OS cannot handle png file optimized by optipng? Should be reported to Apple then.

Unsure. I have never seen this issue on any other site that I have noticed, and have never had a problem with my own optimized png files.
I generally use smush.it or pngcrush though.

If the 26 bytes is a problem, this smush.it version appears to work fine for me, and is actually even smaller.
http://smushit.zenfs.com/results/ed84834d/smush/%2Fimages%2Ftitlebar.png (118 bytes)

hehe oddly enough, this was assigned to me yet I do not have the ability to commit any changes. Also I have no access to a mac, but I'll submit a patch for archweb using the AUR title image to see if it makes any difference.
