to be fair, i don't like that i have to patch it and this should be fix upstream. but seems that upstream is not doing anything to incorporate this(more than 1 year passed) i'll do it.

I've complained upstream as well.

i was looking on the bug list and noticed a lot of languages bugs and without even being assigned. i think the project is dead. if we starting doing languages fixes, then all others will want that and is wrong.

Agreed. Perhaps it should get dropped to AUR if it's dead upstream and is going to need constant patching.

Yes I also realized a few minutes ago that the project is dead. I don't think there will come any upstream fixes if not somebody forks gaim-libnotify.

There are currently 9 languages waiting to get updated:

But is just because it needs patching a reason to send it to AUR? I think that the libnotify-plugin is one of the most used ones for pidgin and it would be cool to have it stay as precompiled binary in Community.

If you send it to AUR, I'll take ownership of it and maintain it. But if you let it stay in Community I can incorporate all of them and create a new PKGBUILD. What do you think?
Comment by Gavin Bisesi (Daenyth) - Tuesday, 09 March 2010, 16:58 GMT
Well I suppose if it's not updated upstream then the binary won't need to change much. If you send me a modified PKGBUILD with the patches I'd be happy to recompile and distribute that.
