Detailschromium works properly without ffmpeg installed. Of course, some functionality isn't there, but that doesn't seem a strong enough reason to make ffmpeg a mandatory dep.

I think this case is the definition of an optional dep. Without ffmpeg installed, it falls back gracefully to just not playing html5 video. Also, ffmpeg brings in a lot of deps with it.
