You should not imagine ftp.yz.yamagata-u.ac.jp works fine as a mirror in Japan.
JAIST is a (self-proclaimed) strongest mirror in Japan :)
I (and probably all ja's arch users) will welcome it very much!
Since we've moved to 2-tier mirroring scheme, syncing from archlinux.org is disabled.
Please sync from one of these tier1 mirrors:
rsync://mirror.rit.edu/archlinux/
rsync://rsync.gtlib.gatech.edu/archlinux/
rsync://ftp.tku.edu.tw/archlinux/
(let us know which one you choose, or if kernel.org is still faster for you - you may stay with it)
with the following rsync options:
-rtlvH --delete-after --delay-updates --safe-links --max-delete=1000
