DetailsDescription:
In order to play encrypted DVDs, VLC requires the libdvdcss package, the optional dependencies should be updated to reflect that. Additional info: Without the libdvdcss package installed, VLC will give an error about being unable to play the DVD when an encrypted DVD is inserted. The error message shows no useful information about what to do to allow the DVD to play. Steps to reproduce: Attempt to play an encrypted DVD with VLC without libdvdcss installed, an error will be displayed. Install libdvdcss and the DVD should play. |
This task depends upon
In fact, if you install VLC, it requires libdvdnav and libdvdread, then if you read pacman messages, installing libdvdread you can read "libdvdcss: for decoding encrypted DVDs"
So, adding libdvdcss as an optional dependency for VLC shoud be redundant.
BTW, I could add libdvdcss as optional dependency for the next release, but IMHO it's redundant.
