Description:
Some keys, when pressed, triggers strage events. So far identified: - Delete - triggers both Delete and PrintScreen consecutively - DownArrow - triggers both DownArrow and Enter consecutively Additional info: * this behavior is found only in X (either Gnome+GDM, or KDE+KDM), and not in plain console. * it appeared after an update of multiple packages, including xorg and kernel related. * the bug is only reproducible on my laptop, but not on my desktop machine (both with x86_64 architecture); hardware configuration (where the bug occurs): - Dell XPS M1530 - CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.40GHz - RAM: 4GB - other hardware details are not relevant * package version(s) - all last stable updates as of 2010-Feb-23. Some of most related: - core/kernel26 2.6.32.8-1 - extra/xorg-server 1.7.5-1 - extra/xf86-input-keyboard 1.4.0-1 - extra/xf86-input-evdev 2.3.2-1 - extra/xorg-xkb-utils 7.5-2 * config and/or log files - attached is xorg.conf (useless, but anyway) Steps to reproduce: - while in X session, in any editor (nano, gedit, kate, vi (insert mode)), or in terminal (konsole, gnome terminal), any application that interprets "DownArrow" key, press it (meaning the "DownArrow" key); results - unexpected "Enter" is also triggered; or - while in X session, press "Delete"; results - unexpected "PrintScreen" key event is also triggered |

Therefor, I analysed the file, and fixed the problem by adding this line under "ServerLayout" section:
InputDevice "evdevkeyboard" "CoreKeyboard"
So the problem was because of wrong, maybe double autodetection of keyboard device by X server, and is not hardware dependent as I thought. It might be related to bug #17380
The bug can be closed/canceled.
