DetailsDescription:
nm-applet used to work for users in the network group, but now it only runs for users who have opened up a ConsoleKit session, as follows: ck-launch-session nm-applet I believe this is not a sensible configuration--if ConsoleKit does something useful, shouldn't it be invisible to the user, and not required to be run explicitly? This thread contains a modified conf file that allows users in the network group to run nm-applet: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=63576 Additional info: * package version(s) Using consolekit-0.4.1-2 and network-manager-applet-0.7.999-1 * config and/or log files etc. Config files are unchanged from default installation. Steps to reproduce: Start xfce via "startx" with .xinitrc containing "exec startxfce4" (maybe this is not a problem with gnome). Open a terminal and try to run nm-applet. Thanks! |
This task depends upon
ck-launch-session exec startxfce4
this is the proper and documented way
