DetailsDescription:
after opening Word document with tables, editing and saving again as Word doc, openoffice loses all tables. tested in openoffice-base-3.2.0-1 openoffice-base-devel-3.3_dev300_m70-1 Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. Arch i686, OS updated 02-17-10 Steps to reproduce: open word document with tables, edit save in doc format. All tables are lost |
This task depends upon
I added
export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde4
to my .bashrc
and this entry seems to be responsible for disappearing tables in MS word documents. After removing
export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde4
everything went back to normal. I am able to safely work with MS word documents with tables. This is still a bug, but at least openoffice works with this workaround.
In contrast to what whaler suggested I did not have to modify/create /etc/profile.d/openoffice.sh (this file does not exist on my system). I did not have to set export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=GNOME
So removing export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde4 from ~/.bashrc was sufficient.
I hope that this is going to be useful information in fixing this bug.

of course, close this bug. They (upstream) ask for an example document that is causing problems. I can't give the original and need to create similar one that will be similarly formatted. Unfortunately I am having some issues with generating my version of document with similar formatting.
