If I understand this correctly: I could install go-openoffice _and_ openoffice-ru (Russian language support).

Why this could work:
1. 'go-openoffice' provides 'openoffice-base'
2. 'openoffice-ru' depends on 'openoffice-base' (actually it depends on 'openoffice-base>=${pkgver}' where pkgver=3.2.0).

When I tried this it didn't work.

Is there a way to install them both, i.e. use openoffice-ru with go-openoffice?
This task depends upon

These packages are installed in different prefix, so I guess that won't work.

logically openoffice-ru is not supposed to work with go-openoffice (look at the naming schema). you need go-openffice-$lang. get go-openffice-ru from aur

Hm, seems I get it. I didn't pay much attention to package name, I was confused by 'provides' and 'depends' in PKGBUILD file.

P.S. If go-openoffice in extra it is very strange that $lang files in AUR, but I'm novice with archlinux.
