Description:
Hi, I live in New Zealand where our DVB-T broadcasts have HE-AAC audio streams. Until recently (when VDPAU support was enabled) I had been compiling my own mythtv package, and to be on the safe side I passed the --enable-faad to configure. I wasn't sure if it affected anything, but now that the [extra] package has VDPAU I have been able to test properly. It turns out that at present the [extra] package cannot play the audio from my recordings.

I believe this can be fixed by passing, as I did, the --enable-faad option to mythtv's configure script. As far as I can tell it relies directly on the faad2 package, which is required by ffmpeg, which is required by mythtv. Hence this will not introduce any additional dependencies for those who do not need it. So if it is indeed possible, I would appreciate it if this option could be added to the [extra] package.

However, I am happy to keep building mythtv for myself, so this is not particularly urgent. Since mythtv has been through about 3 updates recently, I wouldn't want to make the maintainer do yet another rebuild just for this. I hope though that this can be added for when the next update happens. Thanks for your time.

Additional info:
mythtv version: 0.22-7

If you would like a test video I would be happy to make one, as long as it doesn't violate any copyright laws (I hope I am correct in thinking an advertisement would be ok).

Hi Jonathan, --enable-faad does not exist.
I believe that you fixed by passing --enable-libfaad option to mythtv's configure script.
Let me know.

sorry, I must have mistyped. --enable-libfaad is the one I meant

I just added --enable-libfaad in mythtv-0.22-8
Please, let me know if it works for you.

It works great, thanks a lot. Might I ask why yasm is required?

I added more options.
