Description:
Tracked the error down to libpng12,
which is wrongly entered as dependency of flam3 in /usr/lib/pkgconfig/flam3.pc

AUR's Qosmic fails to build because of this, which I'm trying to maintain... :D

Thx in advance.

Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  martti is right, I've patched several similar bugs... ideally this should be fixed upstream but until they catch up, we'll just have to keep patching ourselves. this particular one is fixed.

  • Field changed: Summary (pkg-conf fails to find flam3 2.7.18 → [flam3] pkg-conf fails to find it)
  • Field changed: Status (Unconfirmed → Assigned)
  • Field changed: Severity (Medium → Low)
  • Task assigned to Eric Belanger (Snowman)
I do not know if we can fix this (upstream should) and I have find no patch.

$ pkg-config --print-errors flam3
Package libpng12 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `libpng12.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'libpng12', required by 'flam3', not found

Okay I'll tell you how to fix it: add this line to the PKGBUILD after "cd ..." and before "./configure ...":
sed -i 's/libpng12/libpng/g' ./flam3.pc.in

That'll do, really; libpng 1.4 is used as dependency for this package, so "libpng12" is just wrong.
