While installing koffice the dependancies are 37M, and of
those many are gnome related. This because the koffice need
the wv2 (MsWord files conversion tool), the wv2 need
gnome-vfs, the gnome virtual file system need core gnome
libraries plus samba. It is not possible to build koffice
without the vw2 dep? (or is it needed by the kword import tool?) --------------------------------------------------- [root@bimbo ~]# pacman --sync koffice Targets: docbook-xml-4.1.2-2 scrollkeeper-0.3.14-1 gnome-common-2.8.0-1 orbit2-2.12.0-1 libbonobo-2.8.0-1 gconf-2.8.1-1 samba-3.0.8-1 shared-mime-info-0.15-1 gnome-mime-data-2.4.2-1 gnome-vfs-2.8.3-1 libgsf-1.9.1-1 wv2-0.2.2-1 imagemagick-6.1.3-1 koffice-1.3.4-1 Total Package Size: 37.4 MB Proceed with upgrade? have also a look here:

the thing is: the libgsf pkg is not gnome-independend (this is the trouble here) ... the solution would be to provide 2 libgsf versions (one for gnome and one without)
I don't know if KOffice or wv2 need a recompile, but KOffice is outdated anyways at this moment and the maintainer will see that wv2 is working or not in the current state.
