The lighttpd package is compiled without fam support. Although it is trivial to recompile it (I <3 ABS), I am wondering if there is a reason that the repo version is compiled without. As far as I understand it, even if it is compiled with support for FAM, FAM/GAMIN are not required to be installed unless you activate support for fam in the configuration.

It helps Lighttpd avoid the overhead of stat() calls.

Would it be possible to compile lighttpd yourself? Usually fam introduces a lot of more problems than it tries to solve. I remember a bug report about lighttpd+fam but I cannot find it.
