Description:
I deinstalled whole kde (-Rsc) and installed just kdebase of [kde-unstable]. Result was, that kdm couldn't start because libpng was missing.
This gives me the impression as if kde in kde-unstable is missing the libpng dependency.

I don't know if I should report bugs for [kde-unstable] though, but I didn't know whome to contact, and before it makes it's way to testing :-).

If I'm not mistaken, you have to run kde-unstable on top of testing, which contains libpng 1.4.0. Pierre didn't include versioned dependencies, which means it won't break your system if you don't install just KDE on an outdated system, but has as side-effect that KDE won't work on outdated systems.
