Description:
After the last system upgrade from kernel 2.6.31.6-1 to 2.6.32.3-1 my microphone stoped working. Since I downgraded my kernel back to 2.6.31.6-1 it just worked. I use alsa and the gstreamer backend for phonon.

Same here, I just upgraded to the latest 2.6.32 last weekend from 2.6.31 and my internal microphone stopped working. I use the model=acer option for my snd-hda-intel in modprobe.conf.

Looks like it might be this kernel bug: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14971

Never mind for me - it was just a case of the mixer settings changing themselves due to the kernel update. Once I set the input source to "Internal Mic" and enabled Capture in KMix (which strangely appears to disable it in alsamixer) then it worked ok. Also had to make sure that the Capture and Digital levels were mid-range or it turned out very distorted.
