Computer has latest bios update, so nothing I can do about that. It gives couple of errors though, but nothing to do with graphic card I think (see dmesg).
I'm going to try with kernel 2.6.33-r5 and openchrome driver from svn to see if this problem still exists.

this is a recent issue with some recent change that you made to your system?
Comment by Goran Janes (novski) - Saturday, 23 January 2010, 18:06 GMT
Can you explain on that?

what? a recent software update cause this? or is the first time running arch?
Comment by Goran Janes (novski) - Saturday, 23 January 2010, 21:21 GMT
No, it happend right after fresh install, with only core and Xorg packages. And no, not my first time running arch. Same problem with debian testing too.
No luck with kernel 2.6.33-rc5 and openchrome from svn, it still freezes. Any suggestions?

OK. Yes, please report this to upstream developers of your video driver, this is the best way to resolve this type of issues. Thanks.

It seems there is bug in video driver with x86_64, everything works fine with i686. Error was reported on upstream (http://www.openchrome.org/trac/ticket/321). So this can be closed for know. Thanks for your help.

I don't know about VIA, but can you use xf86-video-unichrome or does not work for your card?
Comment by Goran Janes (novski) - Sunday, 24 January 2010, 13:28 GMT
Don' know. I'm gonna stick with i686 and openchrome for now.

Adding a link here to the changeset for convenience:

It doesn't appear this has been released yet; shall we leave this report open until upstream releases?
