I've started to receive the attached error on my laptop, but not yet on my desktop. In both cases, I'm using the Python v2.6.4 package from the 'extra' repository.

A link to a patch that resolves the problem is located in this forum posting:pyqt@riverbankcomputing.com/msg10786.html"> http://www.mail-archive.com/pyqt@riverbankcomputing.com/msg10786.html

Possibly due to the '@' symbol in the aforementioned URL, it seems to have become malformed and you might prefer to use this one instead: http://markmail.org/message/ijcp7k7mzbydhcsr

Since the patch is for "/usr/lib/python2.6/subprocess.py", this bug report should obviously be assigned to the maintainer of the Python package from the 'extra' repository.

That is a patch from 2007. If it has not made it into upstream yet, it was obviously not the correct fix and I will not apply it.
