Description: As the summary says, it appears that the zim package has been orphaned and is now out of date. There has been an architectural change in the mean time; the project has switched from perl to python. To the best of my knowledge the perl version will no longer be developed past its most recent update. However, to confuse the issue the new python version (0.42) and a maintenance release for the perl version (0.29) were both released at the same time. The Arch package is currently on version 0.28. I think the most reasonable thing to do is to skip version 0.29 and update the package directly to 0.42 since that is where all future development will happen.

Additional info:
* zim
current package version 0.28
maintenance release 0.29
actual new version 0.42

Given that there is not a single word about the perl branch on zim's web page anymore, I also think switching to the new stable python branch is the only reasonable option. You can find a PKGBUILD for (py)zim on the AUR [1].
