When I start the Notebook,after grub I get only a black screen.If I remove 'vga' the text on the screen stops at: ACPI-corerevisoin 200909.03 Acpi:setting ELCR to 0200(from 0e200) weird,Boot CPU(#0) not listed by the bios SMP motherbord not detected. Local APIC not detected.Using dummy APIC emulation SMP disabled. Brought up 1CPUs Total of 1 Processors activated (3053.01 BogoMIPS). Acpi:bus type pci registered. mtrr: your CPU had inconsistent fixed MTRR settings mtrr:probably your BIOS dos not setup all CPUs. mtrr:corrected configuration. bio:create slab <bio_0>at 0 |

Additional comments about closing: Reason for request: I finally came home and had a look at the laptop.The problem is in the inverter for the lamps and i don't intend to by a new one, so there is no way to test.

with 5-1 it was the same.But with 6-1 the screen isn't black,its like watching tv without setting/receiving a tv channel.And after waiting 20min. its not changing.

i upgraded, restarted,after grub there was again the Black screen,then the laptop made 'pk' and now my video card is burned or monitor (will check later). I don't see the boot screen.
