Description:
Almost every time I startup arch, when its time for kdm to run, the screen gets black as xorg is running, but it return to the terminal login screen. There I have to do sudo /etc/rc.d/kdm restart;exit and kdm starts normally.
This happens to me since an update of xorg-server (1.7.3.901-1 -> 1.7.3.902-1) , kernel26 (2.6.31.6-1 -> 2.6.32.2-2) and nvidia (190.42-2 -> 190.53-1).
My architecture is x86_64.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.

My rc.conf daemons list is:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng hal alsa @wicd @crond @smartd @bluetooth @sshd @avahi-daemon @dnsmasq @httpd @mysqld @sensors @noip @laptop-mode kdm)

Xorg.0.log do not inform of any error.

Reason for closing:  Not a bug
Additional comments about closing:  xorg.conf was wrong

You should use inittab instead of the kdm daemon (which should be removed anyway; imho).
Comment by Álvaro Villalba Navarro (lostevil) - Wednesday, 06 January 2010, 18:01 GMT
Changed to inittab method and the problem persists.

try to start without a xorg.conf file.
btw, I use the kdm daemon without problems
Comment by Álvaro Villalba Navarro (lostevil) - Friday, 08 January 2010, 08:39 GMT
Ok, it's solved. It seems was an xorg.conf problem.
Without xorg.conf it works but nvidia driver doesn't enable composite by default, so I tried nvidia-xconfig and issue has not repeated.
Thanks and sorry, probably I should have posted this on forum first.
