Description:

I kept getting a mysql adapter missing "mysqli" on loading my cms index page. It was working perfectly before except I just recently updated to 5.3 without testing my local websites immediately afterwards.

Later I found it had been the extension_dir paramter that was set to '/usr/lib/php/20060613/' instead of '/usr/lib/php/modules/' which fixed my issue. I am not sure if this is because I am running the kernel 2.6.32 package from testing atm but the installed php.ini was misconfigured.

I do not remember having to edit extension_dir before but I might have forgotten that I did so at some point. So I apologize if it was just my error but I must raise the issue as it could save other people the time I lost figuring it out and isolating the problem.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.
php 5.3.1-3

Steps to reproduce:

Install lamp
Try to use a mysql utilising php website such as a cms.
Loading the first page using mysqli commands should show the missing mysqli adapter error.
