Description: Since pacman has two configuration files located in /etc/pacman.conf and /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist, have the pacman.conf file moved to the /etc/pacman.d directory for central pacman configuration.

Hmm... should probably have been opened in the Pacman category, however this is an interesting point...

Given the original layout of this, I'd be minus one on this. Or at least calling it pacman.d/, as that makes no sense anymore- it should be /etc/pacman/{pacman.conf,mirrorlist,etc.} if anything. *.d/ directories are meant to be include directories, which is what that obviously was but with the intro of the $repo variable it is no longer necessary for Arch.

However, do we really see the need to do this and limit ourselves? Does it matter? Allan, Xavier?

I'm not sure.... thinking about potential future configuration files for hooks (in /etc/pacman.d/hooks.conf /etc/pacman.d/hooks/* ???), I would just leave it as it is.

actually pacman have /etc/pacman.d/gnupg and mirrorlist in that dirs too
I support this for concistency so a user know that all they conf are located in the same directory
