Does your laptop come with a software-controlled rfkill switch? It looks like your wireless interface is not enabled after wakeup.

Yes, I have a kill switch in front...But it is on (light is illuminated!).
I have also tried turning it off then back on again.
Were any patches applied to the iwl3945 driver for this kernel release?

Down graded to kernel26 2.6.31.6-1 from kernel26 2.6.32.2-2 (both x86_64) resolved problem.
So it's a problem related to kernel26 2.6.32.2-2.
Let me know if anyone finds out anything further.

Almost same issue on Asus F3JC. There is repeating message on dmesg:
iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: MAC is in deep sleep!. CSR_GP_CNTRL = 0xFFFFFFFF
Reloading of iwl3945 module does not help.

  • Field changed: Summary (WiFi will not reconnect once laptop put in sleep mode → [kernel26] WiFi will not reconnect once laptop put in sleep mode)
  • Field changed: Status (Unconfirmed → Waiting on Response)
  • Field changed: Category (Packages: Core → Upstream Bugs)
Plese report this to upstream. This is the best way to solve this type of issues. Thanks.

How do I find upstream contact so I can report it?
Comment by cousins (drforbin) - Wednesday, 13 January 2010, 02:50 GMT
Should I post it on main kernel Bugzilla? (http://bugzilla.kernel.org/)?

upstream has closed this bug for a while now. status?
Comment by Ramil (gravicappa) - Monday, 17 May 2010, 06:08 GMT
The issue is still there. Devs assume that it is a device issue, but suggested to bisect kernel repo in order to find commit responsible for the issue.

I just tested this on my laptop with intel 3945 and it has been working for me. Using 2.6.33.4
